A-Level Success

We are celebrating what are our final set of A-Level results as the 2017 cohort of pupils are the last to study at Penketh College.   The school have taken the difficult decision to close our Sixth form from September 2017.

We are exceptionally proud of all of our sixth form students and very pleased that they have secured results that provide them with a strong foundation for the next stage of their lives beyond Penketh, whether that is within education or employment.  The results achieved this year underline our commitment to ensuring the best possible outcomes for the students at Penketh College.  From a whole school perspective we have demonstrated improvements in the outcomes achieved by students including in the proportion of students achieving 3 or more A-levels or equivalent, the proportion of pupils achieving  C grades (or equivalent) or above across their range of courses and the number of pupils achieving top grades (B or above).

There were some fantastic individual performances from our students including;

James Kenny A* (Digital Art) A (Maths) A (Science Chemistry) B (Science Physics)

Natalie Maffitt A* (Maths) A (Science Biology) A (Science Chemistry) D (Science Physics)

Meri Williamson A* (Digital Art) A* (Photography) A (Art)

There were also some extremely pleasing subject outcomes with Digital Art achieving 90.9% A*-B, Art achieving 70% A*- B and English Literature achieving 66.7% A*-B.  Several subjects achieved 100% A*-C grades including Chemistry, English Literature, Media Studies and both Digital Art and Photography.  Overall a significant number of all subjects increased the proportion of pupils achieving A*-B grades and either increased the proportion of achieving A*-C grades or maintained a 100% figure for this range of grades.
